  • Summary:
    Are you in need of a workshop or seminar ideas for your member meetings? I can help! Identity Theft is one of the hottest topics for both consumers and businesses today. Most people are overwhelmed by the new information and legislation being developed at a rapid rate. Let's clear things up a little for them, shall we? Below is a synopsis of the more popular presentation requested for business owners and executives and includes important information for even the smallest, home-based business.

    Are you compliant with current laws for handling customer AND Employee information?
    With the enforcement date of May 1, 2009 looming, much of the talk regarding identity theft legislation has been on the FACTA Red Flags Rule. And there%u2019s a good reason why. New penalties will be in place in 2009 which make stricter fines for non-compliance. But what about the other requirements under other Identity Theft legislation that in many cases goes much further than Red Flags? The perception that it's enough to comply with Red Flags is potentially dangerous. Unfortunately many businesses are unaware of their requirements and the significant potential liabilities imposed by these regulations. Businesses may be held liable and penalized, through regulatory fines and penalties, sanctions, and even civil lawsuits, if they do not adequately protect the private financial, medical, and other personal and confidential information of their clients, customers, and employees.

    Learn how each of the legislations listed below impact how we do business and who they apply to;

    (FCRA) Fair Credit Reporting Act
    (FACTA) Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act %u2013 Red Flag and Disposal Rules
    (GLB) Gramm-Leach-Bliley %u2013 Safeguards Rule
    (HIPAA) Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act %u2013 Security Rule
    (CISP) Visa Cardholder Information Security Program and (PCI) %u2013 Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard
    California SB 1386 %u2013 and other State Legislation

    After a comprehensive explanation of each, we%u2019ll detail specific aspects of %u201Ccompliant%u201D information security plans and the other steps required of ALL businesses to safeguard protected personal information.

    My programs may also be customized to address specific groups or subjects. For instance, a workshop that addresses the Massachusetts requirements only or a program on consumer risks and remedies may be your goal. Whatever your need, I can help educate and train your members on some of the best ways to protect themselves and their business. I have attached a profile sheet which will provide you more information
